5. Edge of Tomorrow - Awesome modern Triumph cafe bike, the only notable wheeled vehicle present.
4. Run All Night - Liam Neeson hoons an ‘85 Camaro.
3. Nightcrawler - We all love the Challenger. What about that five door Tercel?
2. Chappie - A matte grey diesel VW transporter with a roof rack was eclipsed by the murdered, tasefully lowered, caged STi.
1.
Need for Speed
- They ran alot of the gamut here. Rare stuff, muscle, exotics, old Germans. It’s all there. Yes, I know alot of them were fake. So are movies.
Now for the worrying part. The movie quality was almost inverse.
5. Need for Speed - It was fun, but the movie made almost exactly zero sense.
4.
Chappie
- The writing attempts to be profound, but ends up heavy-handed and heroless. And those rappers are supremely annoying. Also docked for abysmal haircuts.
3.
Run All Night -
Definitely not
Taken 4
. It’s cliched and has some pacing issues, but this is Liam Neeson from
The Grey
in a movie that doesn’t make you want to cut yourself. Great performances by Neeson, Ed Harris, Nick Nolte and Vincent D’Onofrio.
2. Nightcrawler - Jake Gyllenhall was chilling, though not quite up to the hype.
1.
Edge of Tomorrow
- Wait, you never saw this? It’s one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in a long time. What’s your problem?

Edge of Tomorrow was indeed very, very good. Haven’t seen the rest.

I think this year I have seen 3 movies so far. That’s a lot for me last year I watched two.
Twingo Tamer - About to descend into project car hell.

Chappie would be last on my list of quality. Hated it, really wanted to love it too...

And nice thing about Edge of Tomorrow is that if you’re not a Tom Cruise fan you get to watch a cool sci-fi flick where Tom Cruise dies a lot of times!

That’s about how many sports games I’ve watched this year.

I can’t say I’m particularly a Tom Cruise fan, but “whingey PR flack who dies a lot and grows as a character” seems to have been a role made for him. Kind of like “oppressive psychotic fat producer asshole with huge hands” in Tropic Thunder - oddly enough.

Director whose name I cannot remember right now for some reason has been trying to stick Die Antwoort (“those rappers”) into his movies for a while now, it’s just never quite worked. Now he got his wish and everyone realized why he shouldn’t have.

Edge of Tomorrow was awesome! Saw it in theater and couldn’t figure out how it wasn’t doing amazing in the box office.

My thoughts, exactly. What do we want that it doesn’t have? NOTHING. I can’t believe I waited so long to watch it again.

That’s the name. I was too lazy to look it up. The director is Neill Blomkamp. He also did
District 9
and
Elysium
.

Neil Blomkamp. refferenced in this song.

Neill Blomkamp I believe. The rappers are Die Antwoord, and they're actually closer to being performance artists than musicians, hence the insane getups. I like a couple of their songs. I did read that the guy, Ninja, was such a dick that the director refused to be in the same room as him by the end.

I really like Edge of Tomorrow. Check out Oblivion for another Tom Cruiser Sci-Fi that slid under the radar

Jack Reacher was most definitely
NOT
a role made for him though - Reacher in the novels is 6’5” and 250lbs, Tom Cruise is 5’7” and about 150lbs.

He’d be about right if they scaled him up though, right? Come on, Weta Workshop - get on this shit. (They can fix any acting mismatch in post too.)

Marketing....it had 0 marketing, and that was a damn shame, cause they could have had a real hit on their hands if they had actually tried to advertise it.

The Mustang in Need for Speed :
An actual 2014 Mustang:
Real Mustangs have the gas door on the left. The movie one has it on the right - specifically for the “refueling while driving” scene.

Agree. Save for the cool cars, Need for Speed was absolute garbage. “Yeah, I’m going to get revenge...by beating him in a race!!!!”
Wat...

The only movie I watched over the weekend was The Gallows . Pretty sure it didn’t have a single car in it.

Yeah, but the fact that it was a custom car was a pretty big plot point in the movie. I’m not buying 230 mph, though.

I really liked Oblivion , too. In fact, I decided on Edge of Tomorrow because I was listening to the Oblivion soundtrack and almost watched that, but EoT was better. Tom Cruise can make a sci fi movie every year, as far as I’m concerned.
